Choose the event before planning the trip

Road Atlanta hosts organizations that run car and motorcycle track days. Start with a date and vehicle type, then open the organizer’s registration page. A date on the venue calendar tells you who is using the track; the registration details tell you whether that day fits your experience.

For a first car event, look for an instructed novice group and establish whether instruction is included in the price. For a first motorcycle event, ask how novice coaching works, what riding gear is required, and which bike-preparation rules apply. Previous experience with another organizer does not automatically establish your group placement.

Compare the total for your group, including instruction or rentals you need. For example, Just Track It’s December 4, 2026 page lists a separate novice total and links its schedule and tech form. That is a useful booking checklist; prices and requirements belong to that particular event.

Build your arrival plan around check-in

Use the venue’s published address for navigation, then follow your event’s instructions for the gate, paddock, and registration location. The track’s directions include approaches from I-85 and I-985. Check your route with the vehicle or trailer you will actually bring.

Work backward from the mandatory meeting, allowing time to enter, unload, sign in, and complete tech. If you plan to arrive the evening before, get the entry window and overnight arrangements confirmed first. Keep the confirmation, tech form, and organizer contact available offline so finding a document does not delay you at the gate.

Before choosing accommodation, settle the arrival window and your morning travel plan. A cheaper room can lose its value if it adds a rushed drive before check-in. If you are towing, check trailer parking directly with the property.

Make the paddock work for your day

The venue’s track-day camping guidance says paddock spaces and power are generally allocated by arrival order unless the organizer sets another arrangement. Electrical hookups are limited, and on-site water is non-potable. Bring drinking water and confirm power availability before relying on a hookup.

Ask staff where to unload before spreading out equipment. Leave room to move your vehicle without crossing a neighbor’s work area, keep tools and gear together, and secure your shade according to the event’s instructions. Pack food and a way to rest between sessions rather than assuming every spectator-event service will be operating.

Make a fuel plan before arrival. The venue FAQ discusses fuel availability and private-day restrictions; confirm what applies to your booking with the organizer. Ask about camping access, fees, and generator rules separately from the entry fee.

Use the map to prepare questions

Open the official Road Atlanta map before the trip. Locate the paddock and the numbered corners so the briefing is easier to follow. At the meeting, confirm the layout in use, grid location, pit entry and exit, and where your group may pass.

A lap video can help you recognize a sequence of corners, but its vehicle, pace, and conditions may differ from yours. Ask your instructor or coach for the references to use that day. Make the first session about recognizing the course and following the group’s procedures.
